On behalf of the Association of Residence Halls (ARH), and University Housing Services (UHS), we would like to welcome you to Illinois State University. Soon you will be moving into your home away from home. Living in the residence halls has numerous advantages, as you will soon discover. Besides having Professional Staff and Resident Assistants to turn to for support and direction, you can also take your concerns to the Association of Residence Halls.
The Association of Residence Halls serves as the voice of the students living in the residence halls, and is dedicated to the task of enhancing the quality of life for those living in the halls. ARH serves the dual purpose of representing student’s views in policy formation, as well as providing many different services and programs. Blood-drives, encouragement packages, final exam packages, Charity Ball, and Relay for Life are some of the many services and programs offered by ARH.
There are many ways you can get involved in ARH. Each area of campus has its own Area Government and Unity Coalition. You could be a floor president or an Executive Board member for each of these organizations. These organizations work specifically with the issues of that area, as well as provide social and developmental programs. A great place to start being active in your community as well as a great place to meet new people! ARH also has various committees where student input is needed and valued in order to make our halls a better place to live. We would like to encourage you to get involved!
Watch for information about the Area Government and Unity Coalition in your area once you have moved in. If you would like more information you can contact your Resident Assistant or hall-staff. We need your input to address the issues that are most important to you!
