Q: My parents are staying the weekend.  Do they need to register with the Night Operation staff?

A: Yes.  All persons remaining the night or entering the residence hall(s) during limited access hours need to be registered with Night Operations staff regardless of age or relation to you.

Q: What are the consequences of violating limited access policies?

A: Violation of a residence hall policy will result in documentation by the Night  Operations staff.  The Professional Staff in your area follows through with all documentation by contacting  the student (s) involved.

Q: What identification must I present to the Night Manager when entering the residence hall during Limited Access Hours?

A: As a resident, you need to present a valid University identification card along with your residence hall key (s).

Q: What identification must I present to the Night Manager to check-in a guest during limited access hours?

A: When registering a guest, you will need to present two acceptable forms of ID, along with the residence hall key(s).  The guest will also need to present two acceptable forms of identification. If the guest is under the age of sixteen, they are not required to present an identification card. However, you as the resident must follow the standard procedure for registering a guest.

Q: Is there a limit  on the number of guests that I am able to check in?

A: Yes, you may sign three guests in at one time.  If there is a problem with the number of guests you need to register, contact the Professional Staff person (s) for your area.

Q: Are military identification, credit cards or other identification with magnetic strips acceptable forms of identification to be held by Night Operations?

A: No.  It is a violation of federal law for any persons, except the owner, to be in possession of  a military ID. Credit cards or other forms of identification which have magnetic strips are unacceptable for Night Managers to

keep.  However, credit cards may be used as a second form of ID during limited access hours.

Q: What are limited access hours?

A: Limited Access Hours are 12:00am-6:00am, where students are required to show identification to enter the residence halls. These hours are specified to promote a secure environment during the hours of which students are not participating in the peak hours of campus activities. During the Summer, the Limited Access Hours are extended due to various conferences and activities that are being held on campus, where in some cases, the individuals residing in the residence halls are younger than the average age of a college student. The summer Limited Access Hours are 11pm-7am.
