University Housing Services' long range plan calls for renovating every residence hall over the next 15 years. The goal is to provide 21st century facilities that offer a welcoming environment that is comfortable and attractive, as well as to present variety and flexibility in room options.

Manchester Hall - Closed for 2008-2009

Manchester Hall will be closed for renovation during the 2008-2009 academic year. It will re-open in August 2009.

Hewett Hall - Closed for 2007-2008

Hewett Hall is currently closed for renovation. When it re-opens in August 2008, Hewett will have new furniture, flooring, window treatments, and fire sprinklers in each room. The new room furniture will include beds that can be adjusted to varying heights, bunked or lofted. The renovation will also include a floor redesign to add two suites to floors 13-17 and one two-bedroom apartment to floors 7-12.

Wright Hall - Reopened in August 2007

Wright Hall reopened on August 15, 2007 after undergoing extensive renovations. In addition to updating the building's infrastructure and furnishings as in Wilkins and Haynie, the renovation included a floor redesign to add two suites to floors 6-11. The suite configuration in Wright includes three single rooms, a living room and a bathroom.

Haynie Hall - Reopened in August 2006

The newly renovated Haynie Hall opened as scheduled on August 17, 2006 with new furniture, new windows and window blinds, fresh paint, renovated bathroom facilities, new flooring, new lounge furniture, and fire sprinklers in every room. Haynie Hall includes two suites on each floor--suite A and suite B. Suite A consists of two double-occupancy rooms, an accessible bathroom, and a living area. Suite B consists of three double-occupancy rooms, two bathrooms, and a living area. There is one super single room on every floor and the rest of the rooms are double-occupancy rooms. There is an additional charge above the multiple occupancy room rate for super singles and rooms located in suites.

In addition to new dressers, desks, and desk chairs, the new room furniture will include beds that can be adjusted to varying heights, bunked or lofted. Residents can check out a loft kit at no extra charge. These kits raise the bed high enough to give plenty of room underneath for other furniture.

Wilkins Hall--Reopened in August 2005

University Housing Services is pleased to report that the refurbishing of Wilkins Hall was completed on schedule and the building reopened in August 2005. Wilkins Hall is now home to 400 residents in a mix of double and single rooms. The renovation project included brand new room furniture — desks, chairs, and beds that can be adjusted to multiple heights, new windows (combination of fixed and operable vents), new window treatments, fresh paint in all rooms and public areas, new wall chair railings, new tile flooring in student rooms and carpet in hallways and lounge, ceiling mounted fire sprinkler in every student room, new furniture in every floor lounge, new lobby décor, and a new energy efficient and accessible entrance.

Special Notes for all renovated residence halls:

Other types of lofts and beds, as well as the use of cinder blocks are not needed nor allowed in any renovated residence halls.

Each student room has a ceiling mounted fire sprinkler. The sprinkler may not be touched, hit, or have anything hung from it. Should a sprinkler be set off, whether accidentally or intentionally, the resident will be responsible for all costs associated with the incident, including any damage caused as a result.
