Curb Bird Coordinator - Description of Duties

Fall 2010

Supervise student volunteers in the following areas:

  • Welcome students and families to their new home
  • Unload student belongings from vehicles
  • Check out carts to students and families /pick up carts from residence hall floors
  • Sell cable cords and bed risers to students and families
  • Run the elevators in the high rise buildings
  • Hand out parking maps and direct students and families to nearest parking lot for vehicle   relocation (vehicles may only be parked for 15 minutes during unloading)
  • Ensure student volunteers rotate positions (i.e. student volunteer should not be in elevators or outside unloading vehicles for more than 2 hours)
  • Assign student volunteers to time slots and/or jobs
  • Serve as liaison between Move in Director and Student Volunteers
  • Ensure all move in volunteers know where breakfast location is and hand out meal tickets for lunch
  • Take attendance of student volunteers and keep record to turn in to Move In Director
  • Other Duties as Assigned

CB Coordinators will work all day (from 7:15am – 4:30pm) on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

If you do not fulfill your duties, you will be charged an early check in fee of $75.00. You must be present at on both days to avoid this charge.

To recognize your efforts in your help with the residence hall move in process, you will be given a $50.00 gift certificate.

You will be granted early move in on Tuesday, August 17th from 9:00am – 11:00am

Training Session will begin at Noon – 4:00pm in the Office of Residential Life. Lunch will be provided. 

You will facilitate training for your Curb Birds at 5:30pm in Schroeder Hall.

Followed up by in area training and dinner at 6:30pm in your area conference rooms.

Curb Birds - Description of Duties

Assist with Residence Hall Move-In during the Fall semester in the following ways:

  • Welcome students and families to their new home
  • Unload student belongings from vehicles
  • Check out carts to students and families /pick up carts from residence hall floors
  • Sell cable cords and bed risers to students and families
  • Run the elevators in the high rise buildings
  • Hand out parking maps and direct students and families to nearest parking lot for vehicle relocation (vehicles may only be parked for 15 minutes during unloading)
  • Other duties as assigned to assist with a successful residence hall move in

Curb Birds will work three ½ day shifts on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Morning Shift 7:30 a.m. – Noon
Afternoon Shift Noon – 4:30 p.m.

If you do not show up to your assigned shifts, you will be charged an early check in fee of $75.00 even if you attend one shift. You must be present at all shifts to avoid this charge.

To recognize your efforts in your help with the residence hall move in process, your name will be placed in a raffle for a free semester of books (value not to exceed $500.00).

You will be granted early move in on Tuesday, August 17th from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Training Session will begin at 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in Schroeder Hall.

Followed up by in area training and dinner at 6:30 p.m. in your area conference rooms.
