Second Semester Room/Roommate Changes

Beginning October 21 through December 4, 2009, if you live in a double or quad room and your current roommate(s) cancels or makes arrangements for a room change, you will be notified by email.

The email will contain specific instructions and a deadline for you and your roommate preference(s) if you have any.

If you have a preferred roommate(s), it is your responsibility to notify your preferred roommate(s) of the following procedures. If you or your preferred roommate(s) do not follow the procedures outlined below, you lose priority to select a roommate(s) and the space is available for assignment to another resident.

You have the following options if you live in a double room:

If your preferred roommate currently lives in the halls

You both must go into the University Housing Services Web Room/Roommate Change system by the date in your email to complete the process to be roommates for spring. Each of you will need to have the other’s University Logon Identification (ULID) and birth date to make the request. University Housing Services (UHS) does not notify your preferred roommate of this procedure; it is your responsibility to explain this procedure to your preferred roommate.

If your preferred roommate does not live in the residence halls

You must go into the Housing Web Room/Roommate Change system and list him/her as your roommate by the date in your email. If your preference is a current Illinois State University student, you must know their University Logon Identification (ULID). If your preference is a new student, you must know their birth date and University Logon Identification (ULID).

In order to be your roommate, your preferred roommate must:

  • Submit a residence hall contract,
  • Be guaranteed a regular residence hall space, and
  • List you as their roommate preference no later than Monday, December 7.

University Housing Services does not notify your preferred roommate of this procedure; it is your responsibility to explain this procedure to your preferred roommate.

If you have a special request for your room

You may go into the Housing Web Room/Roommate Change system and explain your request. Please note it is very unlikely that double rooms can remain as single rooms for the spring semester. Therefore, University Housing Services does not restrict other students from selecting the room on the Web Room/Roommate Change system.

If you or your roommate does not follow the procedures outlined above or you do not have a roommate preference, your room will be available for assignment to another student. Once another student is assigned to your room, you can no longer make a preference.

In order to begin the web process for double rooms, please go to the Second Semester Room/Roommate Change Process.

You have the following options if you live in a quad:

You and your preferred roommate(s) must complete the procedures by the deadline outlined in the email sent to you. You have the option to request a current resident(s), a current Illinois State student(s), or a student(s) who will be new to Illinois State University in the spring semester.

Singles & Super Singles:

If there are any vacancies in singles or super singles they will be available through offers from the single room waiting list.  Single rooms will not be available through the online process. Complete a single wait list form on-line or in the University Housing Services Office; or you may send a letter to University Housing Services. You will be contacted if a single or super single is available for you.

Suites:

Suites are rooms which contain a semi-private living area and bathroom (only shared by residents of the suite).  Residents living in suites are responsible for cleaning their own living area and bathroom(s).  There is an extra charge for a suite. Room rates.
