Housing Contract Information

First Things First . . .

The University On-Campus Housing Policy requires freshmen and sophomore students to live on campus.

You know this because you live on campus. There are still a number of items to be mindful of as a current student when it comes to your active housing contract. The following information should guide you in contract questions you may have.

Room changes during the semester

If you are interested in making a room or roommate change once the semester starts, contact your Residence Hall Coordinator.

Second semester room/roommate change

Provided residence hall space is available, students may make room and roommate changes for second semester via an on-line system. The second semester room/roommate change process occurs beginning OCtober 21 through December 4.  Written information about the process will be sent in October to every resident.

Meal plan changes

Meal plan changes may be made up through the Tuesday before the residence halls open for that semester. The change may be made by contacting Campus Dining Services at http://www.dining.ilstu.edu/index.shtml, by contacting them at 309-438-8351 or completing an online Meal Plan Change Form. Meal plan changes cannot be made once the residence halls open for the semester.

Cancellation Policy

Residence hall contracts are for the entire Academic Year August 13, 2009 to May 8, 2010 or balance remaining at the time of assignment. However, residence hall contracts may be cancelled by students who have withdrawn from the University or fulfilled the requirements of the University On Campus Housing Policy. For more information see Contract Cancellation Information.

Block of Time

In order to prevent room cancellation charges during a student teaching or professional practice assignment (for University credit) which would require residence elsewhere, the student must complete a Block-Of-Time Form at University Housing Services. No charges will be assessed if the student removes all belongings from the residence hall room, turns in the room key, and signs the room condition report. Student teaching and professional practice assignments do not release the student from the balance of the contract period remaining after the assignment is completed. Reassignment to another room or residence hall may be necessary.
