University Housing Services offers many exciting positions to students, a few of which are listed below.

Additionally, many campus offices allow students to set up a flexible work schedule around their class schedule.

Night Operations - Be a night owl and get paid!

Night Operations provides students with employment throughout the school year including Fall, Spring, Summer, and Holiday breaks.  During the breaks Night Operations may provide day security for the residence halls. The Night Operations Program promotes a high level of responsibility in all its employees. The Program also builds self-confidence in its employees while promoting teamwork and professional employment experience.

  • Pay: Employees begin earning $8.50 per hour with opportunities for merit raises each year. Promotional opportunities are available to those desiring supervisory experience.
  • Hours: Work a minimum of approximately 20 hours every two weeks. More hours are available if your schedule permits.

Recycling Route Driver Assistant

Assist route driver in daily collection of recycled materials from the residence hall and dining centers dock areas. Assist route driver in transportation of recycled materials to the university farm and various vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of waste reduction and recycling methods, principles, practices, and equipment.
  • Ability to learn and follow established procedures.
  • Ability to lift and/or drag 50 lb. barrels.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be enrolled as full-time student at Illinois State University.
  • Must possess a valid Class “D” Driver’s License, as required by the State of Illinois, to operate type of motor vehicles.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of State of Illinois laws regarding operation of motor vehicles on state highways and traffic regulations in the local community.
  • Location knowledge of bond revenue areas which consists of the residence halls, dining centers, and apartment complexes is a plus.

Resident Assistants (RA)

If you have a positive attitude, a commitment to promoting diversity, and great interpersonal skills, become an RA and join the team that makes a world of difference. RAs are an important part of the team of live-in staff who assist residence hall students with their living experience. RAs are responsible for providing leadership, assistance and support to their floor.

Qualifications:

  • 2.4 cumulative GPA at time of application
  • 1 semester of residence hall living at time of appointment
  • 27 completed hours at time of appointment
  • Good standing with the Community Rights and Responsibilities Office
  • Currently enrolled ISU student

Residential Computing

There are a number of positions that may be available in the Residential Computing area. The Residential Computing - Tech Team is staffed by a number of ACS majors who use the position for internship credit.

Service Area Positions

There are also a variety of Service Area positions available. These postions include, but are not limited to, part-time employment at reception desks, fitness centers, and libraries. Service Area positions are primarily for work-study students, but there are a limited number of positions available for students who are do not receive work-study assistance.
